Fixing Mistakes

It is easy to use the pushing qualities of the colorless blender to fix mistakes on colored areas.

Don’t forget to test your paper, as some papers will work better than others.

1. Color from the outside and “push” your color back into the stamped image using your colorless blender. Don’t color over the stamped line, color up to the stamped line. The dye is building up in front of your blender and creating a small ridge of color. The trick is to hide this ridge under the stamped line. If you don’t get it all the first time…..

2. Let it dry and repeat as much as necessary. Each time, let it dry completely before trying it again, or the marker will move to much ink and make a mess of the colored area. When you’re doing this trick, be sure to keep clean, absorbent scratch paper under your work to catch any stray ink you push around.

Some colors will be easier to erase than others. After 2 or 3 repeats you may still have a faint trace left but blending can be a great improvement. You can hide this in your background very easily. If you do get a faint ridge inside the stamped line, simply color back over the whole area with the original color. Although it will hide the small mistakes, it will make the whole picture darker.

Be sure that your scratch paper is clean, or you may accidentally pick up some color from underneath. Sometimes it helps if you try this technique with a paper towel as your scratch paper to soak up excess ink.
