Double Slider Tutorial with Video

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Hey all! Happy Monday everyone! It is almost Christmas and we are all having a good time making things that make us happy and spend time together. I thought with all this merrymaking, I would share how I made this Double Slider tutorial with you. I even made a short video showing you how to make the mechanism in the center.. sometimes videos work a little better than words do.

Here is what needed before you get started:

  • Kraft or other brown cardstock 5.5 in x 8.5 in (13.97cm x 21.59 cm), and other scraps for die-cutting

  • Patterned paper 5.5in x 4.25in (13.97cm x 10.795)

  • White cardstock 5.5in x 4.25in (13.97cm x 10.795), and other scraps for die-cutting

  • Green cardstock scraps for die-cutting

  • (1) full sheet of Blue Cardstock for die-cutting

  • Purple Cardstock 10 ½ in x 4 7/8 in (26.67cm x 12.3825cm)

  • Plastic sandwich bag or another type of strong plastic bag

  • Memento Black Tuxedo Ink

  • La-La Land Crafts Club Mountains die cut

  • La-La Land Crafts Club Lakes die cut

  • La-La Land Crafts Scalloped Rectangle die cut

  • La-La Land Crafts Snow Day Marci Rubber Stamp

  • La-La Land Crafts Snow Amazing Clear Stamp Set

  • Liquid adhesive

  • Tear tape or other like adhesive

  • Tape runner

  • 3d Foam (if you would like it for the front of your card)

Instructions:

When making the card the easiest thing for me was to cut all my die cuts and have everything ready to put together.

From the following cut:

  • Kraft or other brown cardstock 5.5 in x 8.5 in (13.97cm x 21.59 cm) Fold in half as your card base

  • Kraft or other brown cardstock scraps cut 6 sets of mountains from the La-La Land Crafts Mountains die cut.

  • Patterned paper 5.5in x 4.25in (13.97cm x 10.795) die-cut (1) La-La Land Crafts Largest Scalloped Rectangle.

  • White cardstock 5.5in x 4.25in (13.97cm x 10.795) die-cut (1) La-La Land Crafts Largest Scalloped Rectangle.

  • White cardstock scraps cut

    • 6 sets of snow caps using the La-La Land Crafts Mountains die cut

    • 12 snow from the La-La Land Crafts Lakes die cut

    • 1 lake from the La-La Land Crafts Lakes die cut

  • Green cardstock scraps cut 6 sets of Trees from the La-La Land Crafts Mountains die cut (or as many as you think you would like)

  • Blue cardstock die cut (1) La-La Land Crafts Largest Scalloped Rectangle and (2) of the second largest Scalloped Rectangle.

Making your mechanism:

  • Score your largest purple cardstock piece with the long edge at the top of your scoreboard at: 3 ¼ in, 6 5/8 in, 10 1/8 in (8.255cm, 16.8275cm, and 25.7175cm)

  • This scoring leaves you with sections measuring: 3 ¼ in (8.255cm) (panel A - mechanism), 6 5/8in (16.8275cm) (panel B – card front), 10 1/8in (25.7175cm) (panel C – card back), and the leftover flap.

  • Using a die-cut, punch or cut out with scissors, create a notch in the center of the top & bottom of panel A. Only cut about a ¼ in (0.635cm) in and leave a ¼ in (0.635cm) from each side

  • Use your plastic bag and cut a strip no wider than your notch. Wrap around panel A and overlap at the TOP of the panel. Glue the plastic bag together with tear tape or glue dots. Do not glue this to the cardstock or your card will not slide.

  • Make sure your plastic bag overlap is at the top of your mechanism on the front.

    • If it helps look at it first and mark “front” no one will see this but you. It helps me to do this.

  • Attach your bottom slider piece to the plastic bag only.

    • Glue only the top of your piece to the plastic

    • Positioning it at the top of the mechanism with the stamped side or the side that says front, facing you.

  • Turn the mechanism over and this time attach your top slider piece.

    • Glue ONLY the BOTTOM of your piece to the plastic.

    • Again, making sure it’s completely inside the mechanism.

    • The stamped side (or the side that says front) should be facing AWAY from you

  • When both sides have been added, you should be able to move the mechanism, so they slide up & down or side to side.

  • Now fold and attach the small side tab enclosing your mechanism.

  • Ensure Panel A is folded in between panels B & C.

  • Apply tape to the tab and attach to the reverse of panel A ensuring the inserts & mechanism are kept free to move smoothly.

Here is a short video I made for you to watch how to do this part of the card. I really hope that it helps:

The inside panels:

The inside panels consist of:

  • The 2 smaller blue scalloped rectangles you cut from the La-La Land Crafts Scalloped Rectangles set. If you do not have the set or do not wish to use it you can cut (2) blue cardstock pieces at 4 ¼ in x 3 1/8 in (10.795cm x 7.9375cm)

  • (2) Purple cardstock cut at 2 7/8in x 3 7/8 in (7.3025cm x 9.8425cm)

  • (6) Snow cut from the La-La Land Crafts Lakes die cut

  • (3) Mountains with snow caps from the La-La Land Crafts Mountains die cut

  • As many trees as you would like cut from La-La Land Crafts, the Mountains die cut

  • (1) Lake cut from the La-La Land Crafts Lakes die cut

  • Rabbit with the snowball, and Rabbit ice skating from the La-La Land Crafts Snow Amazing Clear Stamp set

Decorating the inside panels:

  • Color your Rabbits

  • Decide which side you will place your ice-skating rabbit.

  • On your side with the ice-skating rabbit either punch a hole or staple a piece of ribbon that is looped to create a pull. I secured mine with liquid glue and a staple between the blue and purple cardstock.

  • Layer your purple cardstock on top of your blue cardstock with your favorite non-liquid adhesive.

  • Put your snow caps on top of your mountains

  • Place your mountains in the middle of the purple cardstock.

    • Be aware to not place them too high or they will not slide into the mechanism.

  • Sponge your snow pieces and your lake “ice” piece with Ranger Salted Ocean Distress Oxide Ink on the edges.

  • Layer your snow pieces however you would like them to look.

  • Place your trees where you would like to have them.

  • When adhering your rabbits, remember your ice-skating rabbit will need his “ice” under him so place that before putting on your ice-skating rabbit.

Decorating the front of your card:

  • Color La-La Land Crafts Snow Day Marci and cut her out.

  • Layer your mechanism on top of the Largest blue cardstock La-La Land Crafts Scalloped Rectangle Die Cut.

    • Again, if you do not have these you may just use a cut piece of blue cardstock that measures: 5 3/8 in x 3 7/8 in (13.6525cm x 9.8425cm)

  • Put your snow caps on top of your mountains

  • Place your mountains in the middle of the purple cardstock.

  • Sponge your snow pieces with Ranger Salted Ocean Distress Oxide Ink on the edges.

  • Stamp your sentiment on one of the snow pieces using Memento Black Tuxedo Ink or your favorite black ink.

  • Layer your snow pieces however you would like them to look.

  • Place your trees where you would like to have them.

  • Adhere Snow Day Marci to the card.

  • Layer your patterned paper and white cardstock La-La Land Crafts Scalloped Rectangle at different angles.

  • Adhere your blue cardstock with your decorated mechanism onto the front of your card.
