Zsprites & Jingle Bell Sprite Oh My! Aurora Wings Showcase

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Hey all! I am so happy and excited on Aurora Wings release days! I get to show you all the fun projects and tell you my crazy ideas when I was making them. Believe me, these ones are crazy! I have 3 cards to tell you about so grab a cuppa and hang on tight!

Now, which one to show you first??? Let's go with Sagittarius! This Zsprite is fun! I was actually watching the 1981 version of Clash Of The Titans. Yes, I know an old film but a childhood favorite that got me interested in mythology.

So this film has some of the stars showing in the different constellations... BINGO! Sagittarius was perfect for that!

I created a galaxy background for the card. I popped up Sagittarius with some 3D foam squares. Last I added some silver sequins hoping they would look like stars as well.

The Copic colors I used on Sagittarius are:

  • Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21

  • Hair: E50, 51, 53, 55

  • Hooves: E40, 41, 43

  • Star: Y11, 19, 17, 38

Okay, the next amazing Zsprites are Capricorn and Aquarius. These two I wanted to put together. I didn't want the little goatfish (hmm) to be out of water and Aquarius is spilling it out like she doesn't realize there is a drought in parts California. So why not put them together so the water isn't wasted.

With the water part of the stamps already present, I wanted to put them in an ocean scene but still keep the stars out at night with the galaxy background.

I used washi tape to tape off everything I didn't  want to be attacked by the sponging for the background and got that out of the way.

I then went ahead, taking off the washi tape, colored with Copic markers the ocean and sand. I didn't realize it until after showing it to Mitzi that the ocean looks like it is glowing. It really put a smile on my face when she pointed out something I didn't  see. Since they were in a ocean scene I wanted the stars to look like boulders you may find on the coastline instead of bright yellow ones in the sky.

Honestly the goatfish tail was the struggle for me on this card. Most of you know I tend to not color a lot of mermaids or fish because well... scales to me are scary. But I think I did okay with this tail. Would you believe there is some Y11 in there to make the V01 look a wee bit green while holding onto the violet? I finished it off with some clear Wink Of Stella.

The Copic markers I used for this card are:

Capricorn

  • Goat: (hair)E50, 51, 53, 55 (hooves) 40, 41, 43

  • Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21

  • Fish: Y11, BG01, 13, 15, 18, V01, 04

Rock Stars: C2, 3, 5, 6, 8

Aquarius:

  • Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, R20, 30

  • Leaves: G21, 24, 28

  • Hair: E21, 23, 25, 27

  • Dress: BG0000, 000, 02, Y26, 28

  • Water: BG0000, 000, 01, 02

  • Vase: YR21, Y26, 28

Ocean: B16, 18, BG11, 13, 15

Sand: E30, 31, 33, 34, 50

Okay last card! This one is not a Zsprite which I am sure you have been able to guess. This sweet fun little girl is a Jingle Bell Sprite! She is new along with Santa's Helper but I sadly ran short of time.

All I could think of was the song Silver Bells and Bing Cosby's voice. So of course I had to get the song playing on my Echo while coloring.  Of course what goes  brilliantly with silver jingle bells but beautiful blue.

This one I used some scalloped circle and rectangle die cuts to make some amazing layers. I even found some silver glitter paper to really make it pop.

The last things I used were some tiny tiny jingle bells I still had from 10 years ago. Yes, 10 years ago you read that correctly. So all those times you say "oh but I might use this.." you really just might HAHA

Yes, they really do jingle as well. I better hand deliver this card or the post office may get a little freaked haha!

The Copic markers I used are:

  • Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, R20, 30

  • Hair: E50, 51, 53, 55

  • Bells: T0, 2, 3, 4

  • Clothes: BG000, 01, 05

I have one last fun and amazing thing from Mitzi she is so generous! It is coupon codes for you to save money on these adorable little cuties!

  1. Okay, for sure I need to get more Distress Oxides and learn that fab background technique, Cristena! Would have saved me some grief with my own Sagittarius since I was hesitant to do the sky with Copics. LOVE how yours turned out on both your creations. Truly fabulous coloring in every way. I think we had a "great minds" moment again as I too was singing "Silver Bells" as I colored Jingle Bells Sprite and I ALMOST used the fabulous aquas you chose but I little voice was whispering, "That's what Cristena has in mind." LOL Gorgeous creations, Chickie! Love them all! xxD
