Crown of Roses - Aurora Wings Anything Goes Challenge

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hey all! Have I told you lately how much I absolutely LOVE doing the Aurora Wings challenges? I love it! I can't say that enough. Why? you ask? For reasons such as this! I find myself challenging myself to go out of my comfort zone every time. I pick something that in my head I am saying "you are crazy you are going to screw that up so bad!!!". Then I always seem to prove myself wrong. I find myself getting better at doing things I don't think I can do.

This month the challenge is Anything Goes. I decided I wanted to do something that would look nice for either a Valentine, Mother's Day, or maybe my mother in law's birthday. Yes, I am one of the rare few that can say I love my mother in law haha! I went with Aurora Wings Crown of Roses. She is a beautiful drawing.

I saw this pink rose online when I was looking for colors to use for the roses and how they looked with the shadows. I like to make things look semi realistic if I can. I fell in love with this rose!

I thought it was positively beautiful and wanted to try and capture the colors but make them just a bit more .... vintage.

I used a couple of different Rubbernecker die cuts. I used the Nested Circle Small Stitch die cut for around the Crown of Roses image. I opted for no sentiment since I couldn't decide what I wanted to use it for.

After cutting out the image... you are not going to believe this... I found a WHOLE package of Blush Blossom cardstock from Stampin' Up! I think that stuff retired back in 2010!! I have been hoarding that paper for 9 years!! haha!! But I am happy because it looks beautiful with the colors that I picked out without another or more pink over powering the image.

I used the Nested Scalloped Circles die cut for around the Crown of Roses. You can kind of see in the right side that I also used the Nested Circle with Small Stitches die cut for the two outer circles as well. After that I just used a plain Nested Circle die cut for the Blush Blossom cardstock on the outer circles.

I used some of my favorite lace from Hobby Lobby to add some softness and to me beauty. The lace is sold by the yard but I tell ya one of these days I am just going to go and buy the whole darn thing of it haha!

I don't know why but I love the way the photo above came out. It was not what I had expected and thought I would have to take the photo over again. I wanted to show the flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, but then I also got the ladies eyes from image to really pop with the flowers. I really like it.

For the finishing touches I added some hoarded Stampin' Up! pearls that I have no clue if they have anymore... but is it really hoarding if you found them in the top of your button caddy that you don't go into very much.. because well you DO hoard the buttons... then you open it one day and WOOHOO TREASURE!!! HAHA It was seriously like Christmas all over again when I found them! I thought I had been out of those for years HAHA! Okay... now you know my crazy secrets :)

Here are the Copic markers I used:

  • Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11, 21, R20

  • Hair: E41, 42, 43, 44, 47

  • Flowers: RV000, 10, 93, R83

  • Leaves: YG91, 93, 95

I really wanted to keep everything kind of soft and muted for a vintage look. I am not sure if I achieved that.. but I achieved what in my minds eye for once and I am happy about that.

I hope that you enjoyed my post today. If you do make anything with this stamp or anything from Aurora Wings please feel free to share them with me on my facebook page or Aurora Wings Facebook Group!
